Closing Out 2007....
It's been another busy year for ekoostik hookah...we played shows in Colorado and California, did a weeklong tour in Alaska, played most of our favorite midwest venues and headlined several festivals. Our new cd Under Full Sail: It All Comes Together was released and we made a new live DVD which should be available early in 2008. We had a great year and and we hope you did too!
New Years Run
It's time to welcome 2008 with our New Year's run! We kick it off on Friday December 28th at the Magic Stick in Detroit, Michigan - Jam Samich opens. On Monday December 31st we'll be "home" at the Newport Music Hall in Columbus, Ohio to bring in the new year. Tickets are $40 in advance or at the door. Doors are at 8PM, the Werks play at 8:30PM and hookah is on stage promptly at 10PM. We suggest arriving early, there can be a pretty good line to get in that night and, well, it'll probably be cold. Check out a special New Year's poster we'll have for sale on your way in...supplies are limited. We hope to see all of our friends there!
A note: The New Year's show flyer that has a ticket-like design is not, in fact, a ticket - please buy yours in advance from http://www.ticketmaster.com/event/05003F5F7B7036FB or plan to purchase tickets at the door if they are still available.
Important Announcement about Hawaii Shows in February
It saddens us to tell you that we have to cancel the shows on the Big Island of Hawaii. Unfortunately the promoter of the shows has pulled out, leaving us with no venue, no equipment, and no time to reschedule appropriate shows. This is a hard message to relate. We were looking forward to this as much as anyone. Our sincere apologies to those who were planning on joining us over there, and especially those who have already made travel arrangements. We’d also like to apologize to our friends in Hawaii who were looking forward to seeing us in their home state. Rest assured, we will do everything in our power to get to your beautiful state in the near future. We will be actively seeking out reliable promoters to help make a successful tour of the state possible.
For those of you who already paid to get to the Big Island, please contact us at dave@ekoostik.com, and we will try to do something to make it up to you, if even in a small way. If you will be traveling over there anyway, Colin John, from the Colin John Band has made it clear that you are welcome to go to any Colin John Band show for free, and The Shires campground is also available to you for free camping. Feel free to contact Colin at colin_john_blues@yahoo.co.uk regarding this. Again, we are very sorry to have to make this announcement at such a late date, and we appreciate your understanding on this matter.
Looking Ahead to 2008
We've added several shows for 2008 already. We're very excited to be returning to Poston Lake near Athens in early April to kick off the festival season, to Nelson Ledges in early May for Blossom Blast and of course to host Spring Hookahville at Legend Valley once again - this one will be number 29!! Mark your calendars and note that Hookahville will begin with early bird on Friday May 23rd and the festival will continue on Saturday May 24th and Sunday May 25th, ending on Monday (Memorial Day).
We're also playing a show with Moonalice at Mr. Smalls in Pittsburgh, opening a brand new venue in Dayton called Seven Timbers Live, doing our first show at the Kent Stage - a historic theater in downtown Kent, Ohio, returning to Annie's in Cincinnati, heading to Chicago to play at Martyr's, playing outdoors at Howard's in Bowling Green and doing a free show at Headliners in Toledo. We have many more shows to come so stay tuned to our web site at www.ekoostik.com!
