Ask The Band

q. What is your favorite song to play as a band? - Brennan B.
a. This answer is only one man's opinion, which means it has a one in six chance of being correct. To be honest, I'm sure we would each have a unique answer to this question, and each of our answers would be subject to change. Something like a favorite song tends to shift around. I would say our favorite song to play as a band would be a song that is fresh and new to us. The energy that comes with a fresh song is, well, fresh energy. - Eric

q. Do you think/wish to have Hookahville go national? - Bekah A.
a. Hookahville as a national tour is something that has been discussed amongst us. The job would be a huge undertaking that we would probably be willing to take on if the odds were good it would be well received. A tour like that is a completely different animal than the way we do HV now, and we are still trying to get the stationary HV as organized as possible. I think there is a benefit to having HV in a fixed location too. I like the idea of it being a kind of pilgrimage for our fans, it adds something I can't quite explain. It's the original. You could look at it like this: Would you rather go to the Telluride Bluegrass Festival in Telluride, or see it on tour in Muncie, IN? Drive a 53 MG Roadster, or have the kit-car? Get a straight answer or listen to me prattle on? - Eric

q. I just wanted to know how you feel about Morgantown (WV) and when you guys will pull off another awesome album. - Patrick M.
a. I think Morgantown is very hilly. Thanks for the props on our recorded work. We have no immediate plans to record, however I'm sure it will be sooner rather than later. We discussed the idea of doing a few crappy albums and then an awesome one, but quickly decided that was doing nobody any good. - Eric

Dear Friends,

Summer has a way of sneaking out of the picture. It seems like only weeks ago that we were all enjoying long days filled with Hookahville and Bonnaroo, with Fall nowhere in sight. But now, as we creep into August and close in on 30 days from Labor Day Weekend, Fall Hookahville is planted firmly on the horizon and approaching quickly. Just the way we like it.

We're all keeping busy in our efforts to keep the festival fresh; among the things we're working on for Fall 2003 are an expanded kids area and a community art project. Please check www.hookahville.com and August's issue of Schwa Mail for details and updates. And don't forget - the window is quickly closing on API pre-sale. Be sure to order your tickets at the discounted rate of $60 before midnight on August 3rd by calling 888-TIXX-100 or by visiting www.hookahville.com.

We're pleased to be opening Frontier Ranch for camping on August 6th and 7th in support of the Dead show at Germain Amphitheater. For additional information on Dead camping and other happenings in the hookah world, please check the eh news section below.

We'll be in touch again before Fall Hookahville with Fall Tour information (!) and last-minute Hookahville details. For those of you making the trip to Dead camping or Jerry's Birthday Bash at Sunshine Daydream on August 16th, have a safe trip and we'll being seeing you somewhere down the line.
